Delta UV-C rays, emitted at 254 nanometers—the optimal wavelength for destroying microorganisms (viruses, bacteria, algae, yeast, mold, etc.)—penetrate and disrupt DNA. This process deactivates germ cell metabolism, preventing reproduction. Your UV system relies on this mechanism to function effectively, making it crucial to replace lamps regularly and use the correct bulbs. Without bulbs specifically designed for your system’s flow rates, water pressure, light wavelength, and millijoule output, the system will not perform as intended.
