You can tell your pool skimmer is working properly if you see water and floating debris being drawn into the skimmer basket while the pool pump is running. The basket should regularly collect leaves and debris, and the water level should be high enough to allow smooth flow into the skimmer. If there’s little or no suction, or the basket stays empty despite debris on the surface, the skimmer may not be working correctly.
