A Hayward salt cell should typically be set to maintain a pool salt level between 2700 and 3400 ppm (parts per million), with 3200 ppm being ideal. The percentage output on the control panel should be adjusted so your pool’s chlorine level stays between 1-3 ppm. Adjust the setting higher in hot weather or with heavy pool use, and lower it if chlorine levels are too high.
